While it is a common practise in India for couples to share their money matters, it is not so in Great Britain. As per a survey, many people do not want their partners to know what they earn and other financial details.
THESE DAYS’ marriages are becoming an institution of convenience. Head over heels only happen when both the partners are earning some respectable amount and are suitable for each other. While one odd love story does crop up but in majority of the cases, a girl and a boy consciously chose a partner who can help each other to build a good and higher middle class family. In India, especially, in love marriages, the first question a girl asks a boy and vice- versa (not literally) is how much they make every month. Nobody is affronted as we all live in a practical world. However, this is not the case elsewhere as recently a quarter of British couples in a survey said that they are completely unaware as to how much their partner earns.

As reported by yahoo newes, 31 percent of the Londoners do not know their partner's salary and are okay with it. Although sad but it is the truth that the feet curling, goosebumps romance no more exists and can only be experienced in a film or novels.
It is surprising that two people who have entered matrimony and are sharing their life together can be unaware of such details. If we take the statistics, as revealed by the survey, into consideration then we will see that around 20 percent of Britons keep quiet about money matters until they take a step towards commitment such as buying a property together and 14 percent refuse to discuss money matters until they have a baby together.
This data points only to one thing that marriage is not a venture where trust plays a major role. Until and unless a person shares some assets, till then, they feel that the partners do not have the right to know the amount on the paycheque. This is also because of the fact that the divorce rate in Briton is high and people do not think twice before calling it quits in a marriage.
