'None in US will support Missionaries' conversion activities in India'
Philip Goldberg, Interfaith Minister and author of "American Veda" from Los Angeles, USA, said that Americans are not aware about the activities of some Christian missionaries in India, who have been resorting to religious conversions under the garb of service activities. He asserted that no one in US will support such activities, if they are aware on what is happening here.

Interacting with few journalists here, he dismissed such acts of Christian missionaries stating as 'disgraceful' and 'shameful'. He said such missionaries are in very minority in USA. But, he said they are politically powerful.

According to him most of the Americans contributing such Missionaries generously, are only expecting that they have been extending service to poor and needy here in India. He recalled that one of his friend in US, who is a Christian Missionary was shocked during his recent visit to India by knowing various activities of missionaries to covert people into Christianity under the garb of some service activities.

"If you Hindus conduct a campaign explaining Americans about their activities here, I am sure none of them will support such Missionaries," he added. He said in US, there are two variety of people. Vast majority of Americans are generous, open minded and respect Hindus and their Sanathana Dharma'. The second category are fundamentalist Christians, who are in minority.

Even in US, he said there is  a battle going on with such missionaries, who attack liberal and secular Christians. "They don't believe in science and evidence," he observed.

Philip said that since the days of Swami Vivekananda, 130 years ago, there are number of Gurus, Swamys and spiricual leaders have been visiting US and other Western countries and attracting millions of people towards 'sanathana dharma'. "But none of them preached people to change their religion and convert from Christianity to Hinduism," he added.

Referring to growing influence of Hindu spiritual principles in US, the Interfath Minister said that about 20 million people are regularly attending Yoga classes and over 50 million people are doing meditation in various forms. Many corporate, business houses and even Christian sects and Jews have adopting yoga and meditation principles in their own way with some modifications, he said.

Stating that tremendous research activities are going in US on Yoga and Meditation, the spiritual counsellor said that while Hindus adopt it at spiritual way, many Americans applying it in their daily life for health care, concentration in work and in teaching process.  He said that many American schools have been having Yoga classes in secular form, with out having `Hindu’ symbols like 'namaskar' etc.

He said he wondered that many Indian youth are being attracted towards US for materialistic benefits. However, he felt the need for integrating materialistic needs with spiritual wisdom.
