NORTH KOREA has voiced its desire to co-host the Winter Olympics 2018, which is scheduled to be hosted by South Korea. It was the International Olympic Committee (IOC) that decided to make South Korea the host for the Winter Olympics 2018. The decision was taken in Durban, South Africa last week after Germany was placed second with 25 votes and South Korea received 63 votes to be declared the winner to host the games.
A North Korean member of the IOC, Jang Ung is hoping that North Korea would at least be getting some sporting events to host in their country.
According to a poll conducted on Monday by Gallup Korea, a research company released their report, which stated that 73.3% of the South Korean people were not supporting the idea about co-hosting the games along with North Korea.
Even if both the countries accept the idea, the final call lies with the International Olympic Committee. They will look into the various aspects, such as infrastructure, sporting facilities, and transportation etc., before they come to any decision.
