North Zone Inter-varsity cricket: AMU in semis
The North Zone Inter-varsity Cricket Tournament is on. Delhi University, Jamia Millia Islamia and Kaubur University have won. Losers include Allahabad University, Kashmir University and MJP Rohilkhand University. AMU is through to semi-final.
A BRILLIANT century by opener Mohd Fazil helped AMU post a formidable score of 294 runs at the end of the first day’s play in the fourth quarter final match of the North Zone Inter-varsity Cricket Tournament on Saturday. November 31, 2008. Batting first, AMU scored 294 runs in the stipulated 70 overs. Additionally, Shubham Bindra chipped in with a useful 46 runs. Arvind of MDU, Rohtak, took 3 wickets conceding 43 runs.


In another match, Delhi University defeated Allahabad University by 144 runs. Delhi scored 193 runs in 40 overs (Anshul Gupta 42, Ranjeet Rathi 6/17) to beat Allahabad University (44 in 15 overs).


Jamia Millia Islamia beat Kashmir University, Srinagar, by 96 runs. Jamia scored 193 in 38.3 overs (Ankur 63, Shehwaz 3-19) to beat Kashmir University 97 in 26.5 overs.


Kaubur University defeated MJP Rohilkhand University, Bareilly, by seven wickets. Bareilly scored 121 in 33.3 overs (Anuj Sharma 30, Dhuruv Misra 2/4) lost to Kanpur 124 in 17.2 overs (Chetan Singh 45, Mukesh Gupta 4/34).
