Not only his show, but Farooq Sheikh's life also proclaimed, 'Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai'
The heaven gained an angel on 27 December and we lost the charismatic, simple and down-to-earth Farooq Sheikh. 2013 was a year when a lot of celebrities left for the heavenly abode but Sheikh's demise was appalling, especially for the audience.

Having watched him in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Listen Amaya, the audience expected many more years for the 65 year old actor. He was also the person, who was one of the first in Indian television to host a reality talk show, 'Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai.' Like the show, even he proclaimed through his body of works and humility- Jeena Isi ka Naam Hai!

He has been playing a variety of roles for all his life. His films reflect an actor, who believes in substance much more than glamour and that is how he is going to stay amongst us- understated and prestigious. He was colourful as an actor as he had the versatility, which many actors miss now.

He could pull off an intense brooding nawab as well as a romantic in Chasme Buddoor. The hazel eyed actor would be loved for films such as Bazaar, Saath Saath, Rang Birangi, Kissi Se Na Kehna and Biwi Ho To Aissi.

He and actress Deepti Naval was known as the golden couple and loyalist rejoiced when they came together for Listen Amaya. Although the film struggled, the story reached the audience and was loved by all. Theatre lovers have known him through the play 'tumhari Amrita,' where Shabana Azmi plays the title role.

Talking about the sudden demise of the actor, as reported by Indian Express, she said, “ I can't believe he's gone so suddenly and so cruelly! Farooq was in Dubai with his wife and daughters when he suddenly suffered a massive heart attack. He just collapsed! Just like that. Is that any way to go? And those poor girls, his wife and daughters, trying desperately to get him back to India, not knowing how to cut through the international diplomatic's so unfair.”

As soon as news of his death came, Stalwarts like Amitabh Bachchan and Mahesh Bhatt went on tweeter to express their shock on losing Sheikh. Bachchan said, “Farooq Sheikh !! Cannot believe he has gone. There was an absence of any kind of pretence in his demeanour, or towards his work !!”

Mahesh Bhatt tweeted, “Alvida Farooq bhai the warmth of your smile lingers in our memory!"
