Notice to MCG Commissioner for irregularities in Property tax by Mangat Ram Bagri
Following the property tax irregularities, Mangat Ram Bagri, Councilor of ward no.10 of the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) submitted a notice to MCG Commissioner Vikas Yadav on Wednesday. He demanded the removal of all unnecessary conditions imposed by MCG on residents immediately. He sought for the reasons for imposing the following irregularities.

He questioned a lot of MCG's recent moves. Property tax of 2008-9 and 2009-2010 was exempted by the government then why are people being subjected to pay off this tax again? Is there any Municipal Corporation or Nagar Palika which is making the people pay off the exempted taxes? Corporation prepared a data by spending many Rs crore in 2008-9.

There was a survey done by the MCG, which was faulty. Around70000 people have protested against the survey and yet the Corporation is still sending these bills withoutto the residents. Figures are missing from the Corporation's Website for the last few months.

The notices sent by an official do not follow the government rules. Total tax of Gurgaon was calculated around Rs 300, which is more than the entire Haryana tax. Rs 200 crore has been deposited in the treasury. Notices indicate that those two years tax was exempted by the government is also included in 2010-2014 bills. Now the people are being pressurized to pay the property tax.

Mangat Ram criticized the bills of lakhs Rupees, which were sent to thousands of people by the MCG. Senior officials of Municipal Corporation are held responsible for this. The survey was not conducted in a correct way. He also added that lakhs of rupees were spent on the survey by the corporation.

He said that at the time of the survey he had objected to the apparant mistakes during survey and he comminicated to the chief minister as well and had submitted a notice to DC. Administration should take back the decision of those two years bills exempted by the government. We will take to streets to protest the administration's anti-people steps. He also said that he with the residents would also continue to protest till any decision is taken in this context.
