Now book your tickets on windows phone, with the new IRCTC app
The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has added another feather in their cap with the launch of a new application for Windows Phones to facilitate e-ticketing. The new IRCTC application has been developed in collaboration with Microsoft, and is expected to enhance access to the e-ticket portal. IRCTC has cleared that an alternate channel for booking tickets will improve the ticket booking experience.
Rakesh Tondon, CMD of IRCTC while speaking to the press after the launch said, “There is always a thought process to do more tie ups with more people in the industry, anyone who wants to work with us, with new technologies, bringing in new experience, enriching the experience and making the whole process easier, then we are ready to work with them.”
The application has been made available exclusively for window devices. Those using windows phone, tablets, laptops can download the application free of cost as per requirement. By using this application, one can plan a trip, make their reservation, check their PNR status and perform all the tasks, which is already available on the IRCTC website.
Though, there might be some people who might point out that the app is not targetted towards a common man, as not everyone can afford a windows phone. “You would say that, this is not for common man but it is not like that, this effort is in the direction to make things available for the common man,” reported nnis.
