Now CCTVs will curb absenteeism in HUDA offices: A look at Praveen Kumar's strategy
This maverick administrator is all geared up to change the face of Millennium City and following his out of box ideas, he has now proposed to install CCTV cameras to curb the menace of absenteeism in the HUDA offices.

THE HUDA administrator is firing on all guns in a bid to improve the work-culture in the department. In a latest move, Dr Praveen Kumar has decided to install CCTV cameras in the HUDA offices in next three months. This step comes after the administrator witnessed the problems of absenteeism first hand in the department.

According to The Times of India, the cameras will be installed in the HUDA offices including the residences and the camp offices of the administrator and the idea is to ensure that the employees are at the desk during office hours. “CCTVs will be procured and installed at all the offices. The CCTV footage will be accessed by computers installed in the offices of senior officials." The CCTV will be installed in all floors and corridors of the HUDA offices,” Kumar told the paper.

The understaffed department is struggling with the problem and the administrator had instructed the Estate office to carry out surprise check but this hasn’t helped too much. Now the administrator is banking on the CCTV footage that will be monitored by the senior officials.

Kumar created a storm in the city after carrying out demolition with few security guards during the dead of the night. Not only this, he has proposed and started to implement out-of-box ideas to make sure that the face of Gurgaon is changed completely. Recently, he proposed a test for the engineers working with the department. The engineers failed to answer some basic questions and that forced Kumar to propose a test for them. He had even gone to the extent of saying that all those engineers who fail the test would be transferred to other wings.

He surprised the residents after he was found inspecting the cleaning work in the sectors at 5 o’ clock in the morning. Fearing that he might turn up anytime, sweepers and cleaners could be seen tending to garbage in the wee hours every day.

On Monday, the maverick administrator sealed marble and furniture shops in Sikanderpur and even declared that the sealed items would be distributed among needy people, hospitals and social organisations. Marble worth crores was seized during the drive that continued from dawn to dusk.

He has been seen managing the traffic, speaking to people through public address systems and convincing people to take away their belongings before carrying out demolitions across the city.
