It seems that putting images of deities of religions on underwear, commodes and shoes has become a quick and low-cost publicity and advertising gimmick in the West.
VARIOUS COMMERCIAL ventures are getting into news by hurting the religious sentiments of one or the other community to publicize their brand names.
A California-based leather company is promoting a range of shoes with the Lord Buddha's images on them and has got into the news, reported The Indian Express.
Buddhists all over the world have expressed their anger over the disrespect shown to Lord Buddha by Icon Shoes. Especially, the Tibetans and Bhutanese Buddhists, have protested most vehemently and conveyed their anger to the company called Icon Shoes.
As we all know that it is a Buddhist tradition to treat images of Buddhist deities with great reverence. The North American members of the Tibetan Parliament have sent their protest letter to Icon Shoe and asked for an unqualified apology.
No buddhist should feel offended, the concepts of buddhism is more important, not an image .The percept right speech means we shouldn't talk offensively to or about the perpretators of this act. They will suffer their own karma.
Hmmm....I think more than worshipping Buddha's image one should follow his deeds and study his writings and apply that in daily life...Buddha never told any one to worship him...if do so then we will always get disturb by these kind of external stupid acts...we should not bother if we are following his teachings...
