Now Mayawati's bungalows in New Delhi flout norms
It seems that our political leaders are in a race to break the law again and it only points out the..

IT REFERS to shocking RTI response about Parliamentarians and others cutting across party lines breaking all norms and rules in carrying out large-scale unauthorised construction without permission of competent authority namely Central Public Works Department (CPWD). It is a known fact that inspectors of civic authorities take no time in reaching to unauthorized constructions for demolition unless otherwise ‘settled’ for bribe. But in case of law-makers, such law-breaking is digested by CPWD quietly despite being such unauthorized activities being on record.

There are four government-bungalows with large-scale unauthorized constructions in New Delhi in name of Mayawati in various capacities like BSP President and Chairperson of Managing Trustee of Bahujan Prerna Trust. Enquiry should be made if such trusts floated by political dignitaries are entitled for government-bungalows. With BSP losing power in UP, rest of the bungalows other than the entitled one should be got vacated. Same should be for government-bungalows occupied by other political parties and trusts.

Interestingly, this news comes only days after RJD supremo Lalu Yadav demanded abolition of post-retirement government bungalows even for President, Vice President and Prime Minister. Our government justifying heavy expense on Presidential trips with accompanying family members and friends as per US practice, should also US practice where even American President is not provided post-retirement government-accommodation.

Since Union government may not be allowed by states to interfere in post-retirement government-accommodations to retired Chief Ministers under federal structure, it is time for Supreme Court to intervene for abolishing the big menace especially when top-position holders in judiciary and bureaucracy are not entitled for such a princely privilege available only to top-position holders in legislature.
