I became addicted to RX pain meds due a spinal injury and further degeneration of the lower disks. I worked with a good pain doctor and was able to control the pain with methadone tablets and an occasional trigger point injection. While the methadone does not give me a euphoric sensation it manages the pain and that's the point. It's sad that some other patients insist on that the" feel good" aspect of pain relief is a necessary part of the treatment, overlooking the point that they never feel that way without drugs. Point being if you need the high, it gets harder to achieve as the dosage gets very close to the lethal amount. Eventually their will be an OD and if can be managed with narcotic antagonists fine, but they can be very tricky.
