The first temple of the Thirupathi outside the Thirupathi Thrimala Temple in Andhra Pradesh will come up in the city of Kurukshetra by 2015 near the eastern ghats of the famous historical Brahamsarovar.
AN MoU was inked in the mini-secretariat between officials of the Tirupati Trimala Devasthanam Board (TTDB) and the Kurukshetra Development Board (KDB) in the presence of the Deputy Commissioner Mr Mandeep Singh Brar and Mr P Venkata Rami Reddy, IAS Joint Executive Officer of the TTDB on January 20. The Thrupathi Trimala temple will be constructed at the initial estimated cost of Rs 30 crores on a piece of land of 5.5 acres in the eastern side of the sarovar and opposite the Multi Art Culture Centre of Haryana government.

Announcing this in a joint press conference in the mini secretariat here this afternoon, the DC Mr Brar said the Haryana government has agreed to lease this piece of land to the TTDB on 99 years' lease. The possession of the land allotted to the TTDB was handed over to the TTDB official Mr Reddy after the revenue officials of the Kurukshetra district earmarked the area of land this morning. He hoped that with the construction of the Tirupati Trimala temple in Kurukshetra, much more will be taken care of by the TTDB management for the development of pilgrimage and tourism in the holy city.
The TTDB officer Mr Reddy who was accompanied by a group of engineers, architects and other officials of the TTDB, said that the proposed temple would be constructed on the pattern of the Trimala's Venkateshwara temple, with southern architectural sculpture design with granite stone which has longtime capacity to hold things. Answering a query, he said it would take about two months to lay foundation here of the temple after its blue print design is approved by the TTDB. It is premature to decide how many storeys the temple will have, he commented. He thanked the Haryana government, district administration and the KDB for their co-operation in finalising the MoU which was in the pipeline for the last seven months.
