Google has now launched Google transit, which will help commuters in Delhi in locating their buses whenever they need to.

OUR VERY own Google recently announced the inclusion of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus services to its transit application - an online public transport planning aid. Google transit helps users from around 450 cities across the world in planning their trip via public transport. Last year only it welcomed Delhi’s metro as well.

Transit application is already present in four Indian cities - Ahemdabad, Mumbai, Bangalore and Pune, and now Delhi will become the fifth city to avail this facility.
Google transit is very useful for the people in metro cities as most of them are dependent on local bus services to commute and trust these more than any other transport medium. The capability of the transit application to show the routes, transit times and comparison between two trip options makes travelling all the more easier. It can also help in finding about trips that require fewer transfers and lesser walking.

With the availability of this service, passengers in Delhi will find it easier to get travel information about the capital.

Installation of GPS (global positioning system - a satellite navigation aid) in buses is also being planned, which will help commuters plan their trips in a better way with real time monitoring bus movements.

The transit application is a positive move and will fill the gaps in information dissemination regarding public services, which would make things easier for the public and help save their valuable time.

To be savvy with this upgradation of the capital’s public transport system, you just need to have a handheld device or a PC with Google maps where you just have to fill in the places and choose the mode of transport (bus/train/car) and an interactive map will be ready with your planned journey along with the time duration for the journey.

Google transit will let you ease down in a situation where you would be otherwise wondering which bus you should board so as to reach your destination. It will act as a friend who will help you when you will you are standing in the middle of the road, scratching your head hard, thinking which bus to take so as to reach the right place.

Google will now trace DTC bus routes for Delhiites gifting them a bit easier journey. So, when you are lost in the city next time, do not worry, because Google transit will help you find your way out and will take you to the nearest bus stop as well!
