CONVENTIONALLY, THE definition of a happy family life was supposed to be one where the woman was together with her husband and child. However, how true does this statement hold in today's times, where more and more couples are happy without children?

While in the olden days, children were treasured, nowadays many couples discard the thought of having children, wither due to financial reasons or because they do not wish to lose their independence.

Every individual needs some outlet to release their emotions and love, apart from life partner and that's where a child's role comes into play. However, these new double income no children group does not feel the same. To them their dual income and free lifestyle, gives them the opportunity to live a life of leisure.

These couples enjoy their lives, believing them to be cooler, with time and energy for outings, films, work, weekend trips. They also believe that not having a child is justified by having lesser financial burdens, as they do not have to worry about saving money for an education plan, or for the marriage of their child.

Instead of having children, some of them resort to having pets, as an outlet for their emotions. They treat their pets as if they were their children, pampering them with all material comforts possible.

On the other hand, a few of the couples do not choose a child free life for themselves, they have it due to circumstances beyond their control. They desperately want a child, but are unable to have one. For them they are working and building up the bank balance for their child and their upcoming generation.

While the opponents this lifestyle question that, are people so desperate to live a leisure filled life, that they do not want children, or any form of additional responsibility, the proponents believe that a child is not their end goal. They wish to live with freedom but, are frowned upon by the society. Many people still believe, if they see a couple, who have been together for some time and have not had a child, that they are unable to have one.

Yes. I agree with this article. Most of the couples are forced to have a child due to social pressure and family requirements and not by their free will and ultimately they loose their independence and don't pay much attention to their child. In fact, the family sometimes demand upon marriage of the couple, a child within one year of the marriage. I think couples should take their decisions wisely, considering all the factors and not by mere social pressure.
