Nowhere in India are women safe

I don't want to be critical about the ongoing protests against the Delhi rapists and the law-making machinery in Delhi. But after studying different reports and many other news items in the print media rather than in electronic media, I have also concluded that this whole episode of agitation in Delhi is politically motivated. It is not an agitation for a great cause.

IT IS though unfortunate in the sense that political parties including the so-called "AAP", which championed in the last few weeks, to be party of difference, are doing mere politics in media houses and at other places rather than discussing real issues.

There is no doubt that all the crimes especially against women and children should be dealt with strong laws and guilty must be punished within few weeks or months time. It is more unfortunate that people are more interested in mere capital punishement rather than a good mechanism where culprits should at least be punished for their crimes.

Everybody is talking about the girl which had been gang-raped by beasts in Delhi. And since last one week all the news channels are discussing that rape case only. Even after that shameful incident of Delhi, many more such cases had been registered for such crimes in different parts of country and no one is interested in that. On 26th of December, one little girl aged about 2 years succumbed to death after one person raped her in Halol in Vadodara region. I knew this rape incident just because The Times of India published this report on 26th of December. What will you say about this shameful incident where a 2 year child has been raped and succumbed to death. She died in hospital and nobody bothered even to notice her plight.

I think we have to concentrate on all such crimes, and be more pro-active against the system not only in Delhi but elsewhere too - including MP, UP, AP and other states. So rather than trying to get brownie points in such a bad situation - it is more important to also do real work in other parts of country.
