Union minister of state for power Jyotiraditya Scindia has hailed public sector undertaking NTPC as one of the best employers and a leading corporate enterprise in the country.
SCINDIA WHILE on his visit to NTPC's power plant in UP's Dadri also interacted with the young employees. While appreciating the power producer's green initiatives, he said the company is balancing development needs and environment aspects at Dadri which must be emulated across all power stations. NTPC-Dadri has an extensive tree plantation and landscaping with over 16 lakh trees planted in and around its station and township.
The minister visited the Stage II Unit Control Room and interacted with the young engineers managing the Control Room. He also visited the HVDC facility housed in the plant premises and later planted a sapling to mark the visit. He was accompanied by Arup Roy Choudhury, CMD, NTPC and other senior officials of the company.
NTPC Dadri is one of the most efficient power stations of the company catering to the needs of the National Capital Region. The station has the distinction of being the unique project, consisting of 1820 MW of coal based , 829 MW gas station and upcoming 5 MW solar plant. The power generated from this solar plant will be supplied to Orissa GRIDCO.
The station is the first in the country to incorporate dry ash disposal technique which has helped in conservation of land and water and has provided greater scope of ash utilization for industrial use. An Eco Park has been developed on ash hillock with abundance of flora and fauna with rich biodiversity. The station also has to its credit the largest switchyard in the country with a power handling capacity of 5300 MW.
