NTPC's CMD gets Outstanding Engineers Award
The Institution of Engineering and Technology (UK) Delhi Network has honored the Chairman and Managing Director of Maharatna PSU Arup Roy Choudhury, CMD, NTPC with an 'Outstanding Engineers Award' in recognition of his unfailing commitment to Excellence in Project Management in New Delhi today.

DR. MIKE Short President IET and VP of Public affairs, Telefonica Europe presented a citation, plaque and a medallion to Arup Roy Choudhury and his contribution as a leader in both private and public sector organizations through team excellence were lauded on the occasion.


The award was presented on the occasion of IET (UK) Lord Austin Lecture 2012 on theme UK and European Rail Freight- Insight & Lessons for India delivered by Lord Tony Berkely, Chairman, Rail Freight Group and board Member, European Rail Freight Association.

The Maharatna public sector enterprise operating under the leadership of Mr. Choudhury has recently declared its second quarter results for the fiscal year 2012-13, in which it has posted a growth of 30% in its profit after tax (PAT).

For the first half year, the unaudited total income of NTPC stood at Rs. 34,012.77 crore, and the unaudited PAT stands at Rs. 5,641.02 crore as compared to Rs. 31,554.76 crore and Rs. 4,499.90 crore respectively for the respective period last year - thereby recording an increase of 8% in unaudited total income and 25% rise in unaudited PAT.

In FY1 of 2012-13, the NTPC group declared open a 2820 MW plant, which is highest ever by NTPC in a period of six month. The PSU is the country's largest power producer with an installed capacity of 39174 MW.

There are power company's in India, who were complaining about fall in their production due to shortage of coal. What about NTPC Mr. Choudhury? Are also facing such problems or there are no such problems really in existence??
