Number of Assembly seats in Jammu should be increased to 48: J&K Shri Ram Sena
Jammu and Kashmir Shri Ram Sena President, Rajiv Mahajan has asked Narendra Modi led Central Government to raise the seats of Jammu province to 48 so that discrimination with Jammu people will be omitted.
In a statement issued today, Rajiv Mahajan said that formation of a government in Jammu and Kashmir remains elusive.

"The hung mandate, given by the people of the State in the last Assembly election, has resulted in a political deadlock," he said adding that despite the lack of clear majority, the performance of BJP was quite spectacular.

From 11 seats in 2008 Assembly elections BJP's tally went up to 25 seats in this election- an increase of more than 120 per cent, he said adding that most of seats won by the BJP came from Jammu.

Presently Jammu division has 37 assembly constituencies, which were allotted on the basis of 1995 population census, he said and added that what would have happened if BJP had won 48 seats from Jammu alone?

He also demanded bifurcation of Gandhi Nagar, Raipur Domana and Jammu West Assembly Constituencies according to number of electorates.

"In Jammu District, Gandhi Nagar Assembly Constituency had 1,43,629 electorates while Jammu West constituency had 1,39,965 electorates," he said adding that Khanyar constituency of Srinagar District had 48,900 electorates and Habakadal Constituency had 49,667 electorates.

If the electorates of both these Constituencies are clubbed together the total comes to 98,567 electorates which is less than 45,062 electorates of single constituency of Gandhi Nagar, he mentioned.

The scales of injustice have tilted in favour of Jammu Region because the Delimitation Commission had not given due regard to the five parameters enshrined in Section 4 of the Act while re-adjusting the extent and boundaries of the Assembly Constituencies, he said.
