Nurture feminine divine within for self-realisation: Spiritual message of Durga Puja
Durga Puja celebrates worship of goddess Durga – the feminine divine in Hinduism. In the eastern part of India, the festival is observed for nine nights and at certain places for a fortnight called Devi Paksha.

According to scriptures, Durga Puja festival symbolizes the victory of Goddess Durga over the evil buffalo demon Mahishasura. Thus, the spiritual message of that of striving for a victory over the evil forces within and invoking feminine divinity that is dormant in every human being.

The devout hold that the festival marks the victory of Good over Evil and Maa Durga must be worshipped as Durgotinashin - the destroyer of evil forces and the protector of her devotees.

The scriptures describe Maa Durga  as a potential of renewal and embodiment of power. The Devi Mantra stated that  Durga is omnipresent as the embodiment of divinity, intelligence, peace, and morality etc.

The central message of Devi Mantra in Sanskrit goes as: Ya Devi sarva bhuteshu Matri rupena samsthita / Ya Devi sarva bhuteshu Shakti rupena samsthita/ Ya Devi sarva bhutesu Shanti rupena samsthita / Namestasyai Namestasyai Namestasyai Namoh Namah.

The Hindi transcription of the message is: The goddess who is omnipresent as the personification of universal mother / The goddess who is omnipresent as the embodiment of power / The goddess who is omnipresent as the symbol of peace / I bow to her, I bow to her, I bow to her.

The main spiritual message is the respect for nurturance, renewal, compassion and kind care by going 'back to nature' and pay homage to mother nature and feminine divine within. Earlier, it was symbolised through tending nine types of plants including a plantain or banana tree.

So, be aware of the your feminine divinity within and nurture it to attain self-realisation!
