OBA SSG organises blood donation camp on Independence Day

Blood donation is considered to be a noble cause and Old Boys Association of Sainik School Goalpara has been doing it regularly on the occasion of Independence Day. This year also, it organised blood donation programme in Guwahati.

TO COMMEMORATE THE Independence Day, Old Boys Association of Sainik School, Goalpara (OBA SSG) organised a blood donation camp at the premises of Dr B Borooah Cancer Institute on 15th August.

The programme was inaugurated by Dr A C Kataki, Director of BBCI and the meeting was presided by Wing Commander (Rtd) Monoj Bora, working president of OBA SSG. Dr Rajjyoti Das of BBCI and also a member of OBA SSG stated the objectives of the programme in the inaugural function.

In his speech, Dr Kataki mentioned that civil society must take up steps and initiatives to make campuses in and around areas free from tobacco to prevent diseases like cancer. He was praising OBA SSG as they have been organising the blood donation for last 4 years in the BBCI premises which have helped people in need. He has also appealed the civil society organisations like OBA SSG to initiative programme in early detection of cancer in the region which shall help many people.

It is to be mentioned that OBA SSG has been doing programmes like blood donation, free health check up camps in different parts of the sate by its members. There are branches of OBA SSG in different parts of the country which are engaged in different social service works. OBA SSG shall organise more of social service programmes like free health check up camps in coming years, which has been mentioned by Diganta Gogoi, General Secretary of OBA SSG.
