Obama adds another feather to noble office
Though the Norwegian Nobel committee has usually given this prize to those who have worked for the needy or those who are known for social causes, a few of these peace prizes have been reserved for those in the political arena.
THE MANDELA foundation has welcomed US president Barack Obama's Nobel peace prize, on the behalf of the 91 year old Anti apartheid leaser, Nelson Madela, who was also bestowed with the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993.

Though the Norwegian Nobel committee has usually given this prize to those who have worked for the needy or those who are known for spearheading certain social causes, a few of these peace prizes have been reserved for those who have made valued contributions in the political arena. The year 2009 looks lucky for the 44th US President.

Has the leader of the sole super power, Barack Obama, been conferred with this Nobel honour because of his contributions to the world or, is it because its the right time to woo the American leader, when the world is striving hard to shake and set the economy back. The decision of the honour should be taken on constructive notes, where Obama has just entered the arena, the game is yet to be played. So why have the results been given so early?

Obama, according to the committee, won the prize because of his extraordinary efforts to build and sustain the international diplomacy and bond between nations and people residing in them.

Moving on to the contributions given by the pleasing personality, Barack Obama started his political career in 1996 and never looked back, after he got elected to the Illinois senate in the same year. He has done a lot for social welfare by working for lower income group and children.

In 2003, he became the chairman for the Senate's health and human services committee. In the Senate campaign in 2004 , he was also sworn as US Senator. On January 4, 2005, he also became chairman of Senate's subcommittee on European affairs.

Since then, he worked in all fields, including foreign relations, environment, public works, health , education, pension schemes, labour, homeland security and public affairs. In 2008, he stood as the Democrat presidential candidate, a seat which he formally accepted on January 20, 2009.

With this prize, the world's expectations from the American have no doubt, increased.
