It is actually very hard to believe that in India the armed forces have no role to play in governance. In India we have seen that how under the negative influence of the armed forces, major policy mistakes and policy shifts have taken place over night. India's decision to invade Lahore in September 1965, its decision to send in the regular Indian army and the Air force into Kashmir in 1948 and the Indian army involvements in that region since the late 1980s is a bold evidence of the degree to which the Indian armed forces influence government policy... There should be no denying this fact. Just because the Indian army has never staged a martial law against a civilian government does not mean that its influence in Indian politics, governance and policy making is any lesser than that in Pakistan!

State managed terrorist organizations in Pakistan, the fountainhead of all terrorist activities worldwide, initially was India centric. Pakistan army through ISI was tasked to enroll, organize, train and equip various terrorist groups with primary aim to control J & K through war by other means. In Pakistan politics is shaped, controlled and directed by its military, political leaders are just puppets and cannot be relied upon to normalize relations with India or prevent terrorist activities unless Army wants it. To upgrade Pakistan politics and eliminate culture of terrorism, down sizing its military is essential requirement. Ceding Afghan provinces and withdrawal of American aid for military armament will go long way to help Pak politicians to exert. State nation concept between India Pakistan and Bangladesh should be done away with. Same Nation with 3 different political identities may be considered.
