Om Prakash Yadav: Complainant in Manesar land scam is a born fighter
Om Prakash Yadav, former Sarpanch of Manesar village on whose complaint CBI had recently conducted raids at the residence of former Haryana chief minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda and half a dozen serving and retired IAS officers of Haryana cadre in connection with irregularities in purchase of 400 acres of land causing loss of Rs. 15 cr to farmers in Manesar, is a born fighter.

He has inherited fighting spirit from his father Harlal, also a former Sarpanch of the village and founder of Bhartiya Kissan Union. His grandfather Khusiram was also Sarpanch of the village. CBI has seized some documents from the residence of Hooda and Enforcement Directorate has also registered a case.

Notably, by misusing the provisions of Land Acquisition Act, notices under Section 4 and 6 were issued to farmers for acquisition of their land for building Industrial Model Town. Once the panicky farmers sold their land to builders at throwaway prices, it was released by the state government. The racket started a decade back when Hooda was Haryana's chief minister. CBI has to submit its report in the Supreme Court in this matter.

Om Prakash Yadav had to fight decade long battle for getting the case registered. He had filed the case in Punjab and Haryana High Court and the Supreme Court, which had stayed construction on the above land.

During Haryana Vidhan Sabha polls two years back, Prime Minister Narender Modi had assured that on the formation of his party's government in Haryana, the matter will be enquired. BJP came into power in Haryana and Manohar Lal Khattar took over as chief minister of the state.

Farmers met him and reminded him off promise made by PM Modi and demanded registration of a case but for few months nothing happened. Farmers then approached PM Modi and he reportedly directed Khattar and the case was registered at Manesar Police station.

During hearings of Yadav's writ in the Supreme Court, the Haryana government told that it had asked CBI for enquiring the case. The court then directed the agency to submit its report to it when it is complete.

After registration of the case, CBI conducted investigations. In the meantime, on the invitation of Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Prime Minister Narender Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh had attended weeding reception of Hooda's nephew, Monu. At that time it was believed that things have been managed and now the agency will go slow in the case.

However, Om Prakash Yadav said that since the investigating agency has to submit its report in the Supreme Court it will conduct its enquiry without being influenced by anyone. In the wake of sensitive nature of the case, Yadav has also been provided security cover by the Haryana Police.
