Omar on sticky wicket after saying 'I quit'
The J&K Chief Minister may have announced his intention to resign, but his move is likely to be rejected and also might see complications. Law officers are already mulling over the future course of action as per the Jammu and Kashmir constitution.
The unexpected move by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to resign is most likely to be rejected, according to political analysts, but it has put him on a sticky wicket vis-a-vis the constitution. Whether Abdullah sticks to his decision to resign or whether this is a mere political gimmick is yet to become clear, but the chief minister will have to submit his resignation in line with his declaration on the floor of the Legislative Assembly (LA).

In the opinion of legal experts, it becomes binding on the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to submit his resignation to the governor after he made the announcement to that effect in the lower house. They said that Abdullah might be asked to continue till further arrangements were made. In the wake of this sudden move, law officers are also mulling over the future course of action as per the Jammu and Kashmir constitution, which is the only state in the country to have a separate constitution.

Sources said that if Abdullah is to continue as the chief minister, he might have to be re-elected by the National Conference and Congress legislators. Sources added that it is most likely that the governor will ask the chief minister to reconsider his decision as his decision was made in a moment of haste. Latest reports from Kashmir valley said that senior National Conference leaders and Congress allies are trying to persuade Abdullah to continue as chief minister.

Sources also revealed that the name of the J&K CM and his family did not figure in any probe being conducted by the CBI. High drama was witnessed in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly after PDP leader Muzzafar Baig alleged that he was involved in a sex abuse scandal which is being probed by the CBI.

.I remember the day when as kids we heard the news of kidnapping of miss mufti sayeed and we thought any price to get her back would be small but after she came back the nation realised that we released those terrorists for a traitor. The entire party has only one agenda to forment terror in the valley with an intention of gifting it to clandestine friends. the recent turn of events only affirms the belief that Omars smooth sailing government and the state be hijacked by lawless hoodlums. I am sure Omur will come out of this cleaner and stronger. The way he handled Shopian case is just commendable.
