J&K CM Omar Abdullah preferred to walk the talk after he threatened to quit in the state Assembly today. The CM submitted his resignation to the state Governor Tuesday afternoon.
ANGERED BY PDP allegations that he was involved in a sex scandal, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday (July 28) afternoon submitted his resignation to state Governor N N Vohra. This happened after senior PDP leader Muzaffar Hussain Baig alleged that Abdullah's name was mentioned in a CBI probe investigating a sex scandal.
Omar formally met the Governor and submitted his resignation at the Raj Bhavan in Srinagar on Tuesday Afternoon, hours after he had threatened to resign in the State Assembly. Commenting on the allegations leveled by opposition PDP, Omar said that he knew that accusations were false and said that he would prefer not to continue in the post of chief minister till he was proved innocent.
Chief minister's, political advisor, Devender Rana told the media that Omar had resigned from the top post due to false and malicious allegations leveled by the PDP. He said that all the National Conference and Congress legislature members had tried to stop him from taking this major decision, but Omar preferred to walk his talk. Rana said that by resigning from the post of chief minister, Abdullah had set the highest standards of morality in political landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.
