On International Women's Day female drivers exempted from paying toll tax at DND
To mark the occasion of "International Women's Day", which is on 8 March, women driving their own vehicles will be exempted from paying toll on both the toll plazas i.e. Noida and Mayur Vihar of DND Flyway. The Flyway has decided to exempt women users from paying toll for 24 hours on the 8 March.

"We proudly salute the Women of today and as a special gesture we will permit Free Passage to women commuters, driving their cars, using DND & MVL Toll Plazas. The purpose of the gesture is to convey our pride and support to women, especially users of the DND Flyway. We value our users and our endeavor is to ensure women commuters are safe and feel safe while using our facility," said Anwar Abbasi, spokesperson of Noida Toll Bridge Company Limited (NTBCL).

In the recent days the DND flyway has also started a women helpline for ensuring the safety of women using DND Flyway. This helpline ensure the quickest help to the woman commuters in case of any emergency while travelling on DND Flyway as well as at Mayur Vihar Link Road. Apart from providing emergency assistance, this helpline will also facilitate the woman users for any assistance of any kind related to DND Flyway and MVLR.

The women commuters are very excited about this move by NTBCL. Divya Sharma, one of the women commuter who uses DND toll plaza said, "I think its a great initiative by DND toll plaza management. But why just one day, why can't they make it free for a week."

But on the other side Shrabani Mukherjee is a bit confused with this and says, "It always feels nice to save money but on the other hand and on a serious note - why should they exempt women from paying toll tax on women's day?"

She was rather offended by the exemption on the toll and said, "Aren't empowering women all about elevating them to the position of the men to bring equality? I would rather pay my taxes then be exempt from it just because of my gender, especially on a day which signifies growth for women."

The NTBCL staff have sent SMS alerts and emails to the women commuters about this special privilege to women users on Women's Day. They will also keep standees at the toll, so that more people could know about this initiative.
