On making education a process of humanisation of learners
Education in our country is in crisis with its commercialization and politicization through divisions among the academia on political ideological basis. Education system, processes and content are becoming distorted and totally dehumanized, it is being felt. However, well meaning educationalists are batting for humanistic approach to education as a reform at the school level rather than coming up with education policies framed by the government and their cronies with vested interests.

Humanistic education is viewed as process based person-centric education for holistic development of all learners with centrality of emotional intelligence, supportive web of relationships and values of care and share to create a community of self learners supporting one another.

In the humanistic approach, education is about strong bonding among students as community of learners and school along with teachers as a support system for their learning potential by fostering self-motivation, self-learning, self-referenced evaluation and self-improvement within each student.

Humanistic education based learning of a an area of study favours letting the instructional methods leading to study-skills adapted to the process based methods of natural science and designing subject matter suitable for self-learning and self-development. Three elements that make humanistic education could be empathy, equity and self-learning leading to person's humanization.

In a nutshell, humanistic education fosters a sense of belonging among students, their development as value-oriented persons with humility as central value along methodological pluralism leading to self-learning  and self-transformation through learning of various disciplines or content areas.

Humanistic education deemphasises competition, ranking of students, labelling of students and emphasises creating a community of learners moving towards autonomous learning with humility to get a joy of learning rather than external gains.

Thus, education has be a process of humanization and liberation rather than of competitive show off of facile achievements and arrogance of talentism as promoted by reality shows and grabbed by the educational institution these days.
