On photographing water drop splashes
It is possible to take reasonable images of the splashes of dripping water falling on a water surface using digital cameras with an in-built flashgun.

ONE MUST experiment with a number of shots to select the best one along with following certain guidelines. Water drops and their splashes can be good subjects for photograhy, but it requires a bit of prepration in a darkened bathroom. Here a few tips for a beginner.

For shooting the dripping and slashing water drop, a beginner can procced as follows.

  1. Fill the bucket with water and allow the water-drops to fall in it by placing it under a dripping tap of your bathroom.
  2. Darken the bathroom totally but illuminate the area of droplets with an LED torch.
  3. Set the camera on its fastest available speed.
  4. Set the camera to macro mode at f16-22 and ISO 100.
  5. Put a coloured card sheet behind the bucket for background colour.
  6. Switch on the flash and take a few quick shots.

By taking a number of shots, some images may turn out to good to share. With a little practice, one may become an expert at such photography. Taking pictures that are memorable require patience and preparation. The end results can be a record for life.
