On this 9/11, what Muslims should do?
One thing for sure, the frustration of losing the cherished war in Iraq and Afghanistan, wherein most of the rich countries 'invested' heavily, forebears more waves of 'recessions' to come. The promise of 'war booty' is not anywhere in the offering.
AN ANNOUNCEMENT by Dove World Outreach Centre to burn copies of the Holy Quran on the coming 9/11 seems to have five objectives, to: i) divert world attention from the ongoing debate on sexual abuse of children by some pastors of the USA, ii) destabilize Obama administration who annoyed some powerful lobbies within the country due to his certain policies and create favorable atmosphere for reinstating the rule of fundamentalist Christians in the America under the Bush legacy, iii) suppress 9/11 truth movement which is constantly bringing to lime light increasing facts behind the greatest conspiracy of our time, iv) prepare ground for Huntington’s theory of ‘clashes of civilization’ to come true and v) gain cheapest publicity for mobilizing funds for the ‘Dove’ project.

The Gainesville Florida Church has targeted a jackpot for itself. The question that arises is, should Muslims, or for that matter any other sane community in the world, fall prey to this multi-layered tantrum and award the desired jackpot to the visible and invisible allies to this operation ‘burn Quran’.

Certainly not. The world should react to this divisive blasphemy in a reasonable manner. The object should be defeated by a systematic approach without allowing any advantage to the wrongdoers.

The recent trend of anti-Islam blasphemy began in Germany from where the reigning Pope Benedict XVI made references about the faith in his Regensburg lecture on 12 September 2006 on the eve of the fifth anniversary of 9/11 followed by the publication of some cartoons in Denmark that portrayed Islam as ‘promoter of terrorism’.

Both these events do hardly speak of intellectual maturity amongst some sections of the west and have already invited turbulent reactions from the Muslim community all over the world. Another ‘developed’ country, Sweden, voted in its cultural immaturity against a minaret of a mosque of Turkish embassy to be built in its capital city. The France and Belgium behaved the same way by disallowing ‘veil’. Holland seems to follow suit.

Recently, an uncalled for controversy was raised in the USA regarding a mosque to be erected in the Manhattan area of New York by spreading the misinformation that it will be built within 9/11 disaster site, which is actually outside the designated area, not exactly a mosque but an Islamic centre is to be rebuilt there and Muslims have been already praying there for years. And, now the anti-Quran campaign of the American church!

Surely, the western societies are now increasingly being fed on religious intolerance and racial suppression by their ruling elite and the media. This indicates that there is some serious matter churning the west these days and its ruling class is applying quixotic measures for scoring their internal problems by diverting attention of their masses on some superfluous issues. One thing for sure, the frustration of losing the cherished war in Iraq and Afghanistan, wherein most of the rich countries ‘invested’ heavily, forebears more waves of ‘recessions’ to come. The promise of ‘war booty’ is not anywhere in the offering.

Obama’s soft policy on the Iraqi front and hardliner perspective on ‘Afpak’ has also yielded nothing much. Trillions of dollars and euros have been poured on the ‘war on terrorism’ but to no ‘avail’. Now, the fallouts of these unreasonable misdemeanors are becoming conspicuous to the local public and tax payers of the warring allies. One by one, they are calling back their battalions from the war front. Coffin count is also getting revised day by day. It is almost settled that the complete pullout of the allied forces from this useless war is a matter of months only.

The frustration of the lost war, local accountability, the ‘awe and shock’ of the looming waves of recessions, the entailing shame and fear of being overthrown like the Bush and the Blair, is now making the ruling elite of these countries restless and there seems no choice for them than to wage a defeatist cold war against ‘the Prophet’, the minarets, Hijab and the Quran, which seems nothing but an utter self-indulgence.

Before a large part of humanity, the ‘civilized’ face of the western countries has already blurred and the growing intolerance is going to turn this self proclaimed ‘developed’ society into a conglomeration of emotionally charged savages and nothing else.

Attacking an uninvolved and innocent Muslim driver moving around ‘ground zero’ a few days back is an enough indicator. Where has the culture of interfaith dialogue gone? The principle of religious liberty is required no more!

Muslims are no more the ‘harvest’ of the mission!

All sane persons must condemn the devil thought of insulting holy Quran. But we must ponder what made some people so worked up to think in this manner. To me it appears to be reaction to Islamic terrorism. Action generates equal and opposite reaction. Islam is at odds with all other religions of globe which is directly related to the growth of religious fundamentalism. Islamic community must stand up to curb it in its rank.
we must distribute the Holy Qura'an to as many people as we can to fight against the burning Quran
