On Virat Kohli's captaincy former cricketers say it is good and indispensable move
In Asia Cup team India is playing under the leadership of Virat Kohli, as regular captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has opted out of the series declaring himself injured. Whether Dhoni was really injured or took this decision as he was under tremendous pressure after team's poor performance at England, South Africa and then in New Zealand?
After team India's poor performance on foreign soil, former Australian captain Ian Chappel even suggested that the test captaincy should be transferred to Virat Kohli from Dhoni. Though this demand from him was instantly rejected by the former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly.

Now when Dhoni is not there in the team for the Asia Cup, is it going to adversely impact India's performance in the championship or Virat Kohli can lead the team from front and emerge victorious? In a bid to know the answer we spoke to some former Indian cricketers and experts.

Anshuman Gaekwad, Former Indian Cricketer and Coach: "Yes it (Dhoni's absence) will make a difference, but player come and go. When the question was asked to me whether Tendulkar was the replacement of Gavaskar, I said no. So its like that, the change is for good and its indispensable."

Robin Singh, Former Indian All-rounder: "Yeah definitely it will make a difference. I think they should consider the change (in captaincy) in the T20, and test matches also."

Rajesh Chauhan, Former Indian Spinner: "Why is everyone considerate for Asia Cup, look no team is unbeatable, but the absence of some senior player will make a difference like Sehwag, Gambhir, Sachin, and now Dhoni. The absence of Dhoni is going to be felt somewhere, but who knows this team will surprise everyone with its performance under the captaincy of Virat. There's a difference between both the captains. Dhoni doesn't show excitement, Virat is bit aggressive in nature, so it will be worth watching the performance of team India under the new captain. Team work is very important in winning the matches."

Shamya Dasgupta, Sr. Editor, Wisden India: "I don't think so this will make any difference, but apart from that Mahender Singh Dhoni is not only a good captain but also a dependable batsmen, an efficient wicket-keeper. To get all these qualities in one player is quite difficult but Dinesh Karthik is also a good option. He bats well, and is also a good wicket-keeper. I think that its an opportunity for Virat Kohli to prove himself as he is young and energetic and Dhoni is almost 36-37 years old. So they have to look at what options they have in their kitty?.
