Once bitten, twice shy: PM reaches out, Anna not ready to take the bait
Ahead of the protest by Anna Hazare team starting from July 25 at Jantar Mantar, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has reached out to Anna on the issue of Lokpal Bill. It seems that the government was willing to de-link Lokayuktas in states from the Lokpal bill and accept the demands of Team Hazare.

ACCORDING TO Minister of State in PMO, V Narayansami, a letter has been sent to Anna Hazare seeking his support for finding a consensus on the issue of Lokpal Bill. A feeler has been sent that the Centre was ready to pass the Lokpal Bill of Anna's liking.

The Center does not want a confrontation on the Lokpal issue once again. But, Team Anna members are dead against any reconciliation with the government.

Hazare has said that he was betrayed by the government last year when the Prime Minister had assured the team that our three main demands for a strong Lokpal will be considered.

According to Hazare, the government not only backtracked from its promise that time, but also accused the team of misleading the people.

During a recent press conference, Hazare said that it would be his good fortune if he laid his life in the fight against corruption. Anna Hazare seems to be fed of the repeated cheating of people by the government!
