One-day exposure workshop 'Finding the Leader in You' held in Jaipur
One-day exposure-cum-promotional workshop called 'Finding the Leader in you' (FLY), developed at IIT Gandhinagar in Gujarat was held at a hotel in Jaipur with an aim to familiarise the senior school students and faculty members about the importance of 'big five non-cognitive (soft) skills among young leaders in academics'.

According to Dr Amrish Garg, IIT-Delhi graduate, once imbibed through small group workshops, these skills improve performance of teachers and students in the classrooms and later at their workplaces. Dr Garg and his associates had been conducting the workshops in the institutes of higher education earlier and now are keen to take the programme to the senior students of schools and their teaching faculty.

It was informed that the 'programme uses international best practices for active and participatory learning methodology for young adults' and with training of master trainers, it will be reached out to the schools.

The FLY workshops follow an 'unconventional teaching approach of immersive activity-based methodology' to prepare the leaders of tomorrow by  providing training on the five big non-cognitive skills which were identified as a result of a major nationwide study in India.

The FLY workshops aim at nurturing and fostering the non-cognitive skills such as 'creativity, innovation, perseverance, ability to take initiative and aim at a high level of conscientiousness resulting in a change in the mindset of the participants.

The event that was attended by hundreds of students and faculty members witnessed short presentations on five pillars of the leadership, namely, conscientiousness; perseverance, innovativeness, taking initiative,  problem solving skills.
