One-day workshop held in Jaipur for making academic micro-films as teaching aids
"It is worthwhile to produce short-form academic video based on the prescribed curriculum with eight to ten snap shots using the 'movie maker' basic software and talk around the content in dual codes, that is, visual and text codes placed spatially as graphics," stated resource person Lalit Kishore at Disha in Jaipur while conducting a workshop for students of B.Ed. and Dip.Ed in special education on March 1.

He demonstrated transaction of the topic of 'Computer Fundamentals' with one-minute micro-video consisting of eight frames. The film was made using a mobile camera by taking individual photo snap shot of hand drawn visuals and graphics to make the topic relevant instead of being the consumer of the commercial produced irrelevant material.

A mini notebook of blank pages was used for visual script writing and taking the snaps to produce the micro-film and it was used for classroom transaction by following the principles of learning like going to parts, going to-and-fro, combining frames to connects of the parts of the content.

A content and process analysis was done to analyse the workshop experience and make sense of it. Also, elaboration skills were explained so that the instructor or user of the micro-film could dwell on each frame from three to five minutes.

Short bursts of audio-visuals in the form of micro-films can be helpful in explaining concepts as well as quick revision of the course.

It was proposed that on each textbook if 60 micro-films are made and used for transacting the curriculum, the revision of course content can be done one hour by playing the micro-films one after the other.
