One-month residential teacher training on micro-learning strategy in Rajasthan's Tonk district
A one-month residential training is being organized for female teachers under Pehachan Project of small single teacher girl schools of Niwai block of Tonk District. The project is being co-partnered by the Center for Unfolding learning potentials (CULP), EdalGive Foundation and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA).

The training strategy of micro-learning is being used which is downward extension of multi-grade multi-level teaching to standardize the learning segments on daily basis and making formative assessment and remedial teaching an integral part of classroom process, said the training module designer, Dr Lalit Kishore. The training that started on April 19 will conclude on May 18 at Jhilai village of Niwai .

According to the coordinator of the training, Md Iqbal, the use of big books and worksheets on daily learning episodes are the high points of the training along with time, space and management skills to systemize the classroom process to build quality through effectiveness and efficiency as quality components.

The participants are finding the training useful and relevant for small schools since use of multiple intelligences through visuals, singing, group work, games, puppets and worksheets. According to them, micro-learning method with pre-decided daily learning episodes as per the prescribed curriculum for single teacher schools is the best way to teach simultaneously many groups of students.
