Online Olympic ticket sales not to reopen until April 2012
The organisers for Olympic Games 2012 were put to shame, as the website which was launched 12 days back crashed due to technical problems within few hours. Now, they have said that people would not be able to purchase tickets until 2012.

IT HAD only been 12 days since the official launch of the website for the Olympic Games took place, where people would be able to get their tickets online. Surprisingly enough, the website crashed within few hours of its functioning. It was a major setback for the organisers of the London Olympic Games, which is scheduled to start on 27 July and ends on 12 August 2012. Though, the remaining tickets are on the website, these tickets would be made available, not until April 2012, reported Financial Times. The site was opened for some time on Tuesday.

It was understood that people around the world were eagerly waiting to book their tickets for the mega event, which only happens once in four years. Hence, there was huge traffic, after the website was launched. The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games came up with a statement stating that it was due to the huge number of people who logged in to purchase the tickets, which resulted in the website getting crashed, reported Telegraph. It was embarrassing for the organisers and Ticketmaster, who is its official ticket provider.

It seems that the organisers tried their best to repair all the technical problems, but still they could not come up with an immediate solution, hence they apologised to the general public only after 11 days. It truly reflects that the organisers were sure that this sort of situation would not arise, so they did not have any back up plan. The result is for everyone to see now. It was a good wakeup call for the organisers, who had taken things for granted.

With this, it could be an unnecessary expense on the games, as the government has already put in GBP 9.3bn. There are chances that the games could witness more expense than the expected budget. Hopefully, when the tickets are on the website next time, there will be no glitches and function on a smooth manner. Else, it is the nation that would be put to shame for the second time around, which they want.
