2011 seems to be the year of tying the knot for high profile people. The vougue is prevalent not only abroad but India too is getting to see some high profile marriages. The latest addition to the list of high profile people to enter matrimony was Infosys founder Narayan Murthy’s son and the only daughter of TVS Motors’s CMD Venu Srinivasan. Described as Chennai’s most awaited wedding, the ceremony in itself was elegant and sophisticated.

All the who’s who of Chennai were present in this love-cum-arranged marriage. N R Narayan Murthy’s only son Rohan Murthy is a student of computer science at Harvard University and the bride Lakshmi, a doctorate in engineering management from Warwick University. The ceremony was a mixture of the Tamilian and the Kanadian culture. The ceremony was attended by some very big names of the business world as well as the political world such as BJP leader LK Advani and Central ministers P Chidambaram, Kamal Nath, Anand Sharma and GK Vasan. Godrej Chairman Adi Godrej, Nandan Nilekani and management of the Apollo hospital was also present for the big day.The interesting fact about the venue was that in the same place Venu Srinivasan of the TVS Motors tied the knot with his wife Mallika in 1982. The entire house, where the ceremony was taking place was decorated with Orchids, Lillies, Carnations and Gerberas, which included a large guest list of 700 people. One of the guests said, “Art director Thota Tharani had put up a lovely set with orchid flowers.” Even the young couple got the admiration of the guests.
The reception of took place in at a farm house at Kelambakkam, on the city's outskirts, on Monday. Around 10,000 guests were expected to attend the reception and the couple had made a special request to their guest to not to carry gifts or flowers but to contribute the amount to an organisation named Akshaya Patra foundation. They wrote in their invites, “We have been very fortunate and the chances of fate have given us both so much. We would love our wedding to support a cause we care about dearly and one that will have a positive impact on society. Hence, if you are thinking of buying us a gift or flowers for our wedding, we request that you instead contribute to the following cause."
