ARE WE witnessing re-enactment of a five-decade-old cruel drama that brought the career of perhaps the most beautiful woman in world – Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe – to a premature end? The death, yet unconfirmed if suicide or murder, of the thrice-married model, entertainer and sex symbol of those days, shocked the world in 1962. And the latest buzz is that the bizarre tale of singing sensation, Britney Jean Spears, raises apprehensions that she may be going insane.

 

The sultry siren had released her second album “Oops! I did it again” at the age of 18 and has never turned back since then. She signed a multimillion-dollar endorsement deal with Pepsi six years ago, but may be putting her career at risk with her lascivious acts. More tragically, she may be suffering from a serious psychiatric disorder, giving rise to homicidal and suicidal ideations.

 

Life & Style reports yet another of pop singer’s outrageous escapades in a Betsy Johnson boutique. With her latest flame, sex-toy photographer, Adnan Ghalib in tow, she dropped by the Sherman Oaks, California on January 15. At the store, the sensuously arrogant nymph indulged in her trademark demeanor – nudity! The salesperson of the store informed Life & Style that the Hollywood diva walked out of the fitting room – where she had gone in with Ghalib to try some of the latest fashion garments – baring her body for all to see.

 

“I was blown away. Britney’s private parts were right in front of me,” the startled employee was quoted as reporting. He grabbed a dress to cover her and she screamed at him, “Get away from me! Don’t you dare come near me!” Spears locked the room shut and emerged with Ghalib after almost an hour. As the pair left the room, Spears was slurring and spitting, and talking with a British accent, the sales assistant claimed. “I wanted to help her, but she was so mean that I left her alone . . . I couldn’t understand a word she was saying,” the employee recalled.

 

The Louisiana-born Big B is not unknown for her abrasive behavior; it is something not very uncommon among stunning celebrities of her class. However, in the recent past, Spears has been in the news for all the wrong reasons.

 

Spears has become a regular fixture in pornographic glossies and yellow tabloids ever since her spat and eventual breakup with first husband Justin Timberlake, in 2002. Her rebellious lifestyle and binge partying became the talking point in crude and vulgar entertainment news shows. Just two years after remarrying in 2004, she divorced her second husband, former backup dancer, Kevin Federline. She has not been able to secure the custody of her two kids, two-year-old Sean Preston and one-year-old Jayden James, in an ongoing court battle with Federline.

 

Spears recently got separated totally from her two sons, albeit in a temporary arrangement. It was rumoured that she was stripped of her visitation rights after being hospitalized, reportedly, due to excessive boozing and substance abuse. But, it has transpired that the move is penalty for disobeying the September 2007court order in the custody case. She was photographed while driving with her sons by her side and was caught driving without license. Judge Scott M Gordon had imposed the condition for visitation, “At all times, the minor children shall be transported in a properly insured and registered vehicle, which shall be driven only by a properly insured driver who has a current and valid driver’s license.”

 

Millions of Spears’ fans had hoped that not seeing the children due to temporary suspension of visitation would be enough to make her mend her ways. But, her fixation with Ghalib and bizarre behavior point to a serious imbalance. Perhaps, robbing her of her maternal right as a punishment to a technical offence may have driven her crazy.

 

It is time Louisiana governor, Bobby Jindal, took an initiative to rescue the prodigal daughter of the state from courting disaster, helping her overcome her problems. He could possibly persuade the greatest ever pop star to seek out a spiritual guru, in his country of origin. Hopefully, someone will succeed to do Spears what Maharishi Mahesh Yogi did to John Lennon, and make the world look up to India.
