Opposition attacks govt on Hafiz Sayed's release
Opposition members from the NDA, SP and RJD asked the government to explain the developments in the backdrop of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh assurances in the House that Pakistan has promised to bring the Mumbai masterminds to justice
CUTTING ACROSS party lines, the Opposition on Monday joined hands in Lok Sabha to attack the UPA government on the manner, in which Pakistan is handling the terror issue, despite assurances to act against the terror masterminds.

The government came under heavy flak over the release of Jamaat-ul-Dawa chief Hafiz Sayed, who is accused of masterminding the Mumbai terror attacks.

Opposition members from the NDA, SP and RJD asked the government to explain the developments in the backdrop of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh assurances in the House that Pakistan has promised to bring the Mumbai masterminds to justice.

SP supremo Mulayam Singh raised the issue of Hafiz Sayed's release in the Lower House during Zero Hour. Singh got an instant support from opposition members, who demanded an immediate response from the government.

Yadav said that the developments in Pakistan clearly point to the fact that country is not interested in tackling terror. This also proves the hollowness of Prime Minister's assurances regarding the commitment of Pakistan to act against terror, asserted the SP chief, adding UPA government had eased the pressure that was build in the aftermath of Mumbai terror attacks.

He also took strong exception to the Indo-Pakistant joint statement issued in Egypt and said that document needs to rejected as Islamabad has again betrayed India.

Continuing the tirade against the government, BJP leader Yashwant Sinha said Hafiz Sayed had links with ISI and as such will never be put behind bars.

.The opposition is right in attacking the Govt, as the assurances given by Pakistan are not showing on the ground. But we wlill have to show some more patience ,before we finally say the assurances given are not working. Hfiz Saed has been released on technical grounds and let us wait and see how pakistan govt. moves further.
