Orissa to declare package after detailed report on crop loss
Moreover, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is visiting the districts as all most all the districts had been affected following the un-seasonal rain that is seen during last 10 years, stated minister Patra.
ORISSA REVENUE and Disaster Management Minister Surjya Narayan Patra, after visiting the affected areas of Ganjam where crop loss have been reported, has announced that Chief Minister would declare the package after a detail report from all the district collectors.

Moreover, CM Naveen Patnaik is visiting the districts as all most all the districts had been affected following the un-seasonal rain that is seen during last 10 years, stated minister Patra.

Minister Patra along with administrative officers had visited certain blocks including Ganja, Khallikote, Chatrapur, Sheragarh, Hinjili, Kukudakhandi and Rengailunda of the district on Saturday (December 11) to take stock of the situation in wake of crop loss reported across the state.

He said that all district collectors had been asked to submit their report within a week and no officer should be allowed on leave within 15 of this month. The survey work was going on war footing, stated Patra while adding that village has been taken as a unit of the Relief Code.

Moreover, crop loss would be calculated at individual level and each and every farmer’s loss would be taken into record in the survey. But the damage should be more than 50 per cent at a village, clarified minister Patra.

“As per eye estimate, more than 50 per cent of the crop had been damaged,” stated Patra while informing that detail report would provide exact figure as Kharif crop is being done at 39 lakh hectares across the state. Such unusual rain has not been seen during last 10 years and the harvest was good, but water logging did the damage, said Patra.

He also said that demands had been sent to the Center for revising the amounts. Those who have taken loans are to be covered insurance and other cases would be considered and it depends on the Center.

While replying to a question on waiving loan to farmers, he said that it has not been considered now and it depends on the ‘Center’ as it is a central subject to waive loans of the farmers. However, Chief Minister would declare the package after detail reports from districts, informed minister Patra.
