Astoundingly, while Star Trek has got only four nominations - all in the technical categories (make up, sound and visual effects), The Hangover has got no nominations at all!

THE BIGGEST nominations at the Oscar awards 2010 are in the news predominantly for Avatar, District 9 and the Hurt Locker that compete each other in the most significant categories. While at the same time, what has hurt onlookers across the world is a royal ignore to The Hangover, Star Trek and emotional tribute “This is it” of Michael Jackson.

Astoundingly, while Star Trek has got only four nominations – all in the technical categories (make up, sound and visual effects), The Hangover has got no nominations at all! Michael Jackson’s heart-rending tribute ‘This Is It’ has also got the barely-there significant mention as if nobody really cares about the saga anymore.

Also, the U2 (Brothers' "Winter") and Paul McCartney (Everybody's Fine's "I Want to Come Home"), both Golden Globe nominees, have been snubbed in the Original Song category.

Inglourious Basterds' Diane Kruger was the only Screen Actors Guild nominee not to earn an Oscar nod. Crazy Heart's Maggie Gyllenhaal "stole" her Best Supporting Actress spot.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince got one nomination (cinematography); New Moon got zero. For all its explosions, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen surprisingly figured in only one category: sound mixing.
