Outlandish EVM complaint brigade of Opposition
One has heard of children crying when not been able to get what they want but the MPs of 13 opposing political parties led by Congress President Sonia Gandhi, going all the way to Rashtrapati Bhavan to complain to the president on EVMs used by the Election Commission being tampered with in favour of BJP, is outrightly foolish and a premeditated mischief.

It is OK if regional parties perpetuate this mischief because with their current lot of netas nothing more can be expected from them but the grand old party, the Congress, joining them is indicative of the rot which has crept in to the party.

What's even more surprising is that their complaint comes after three general elections and 177 state level elections have been successfully held with the use of these EVMs. Recently, the EC had challenged these political parties to come forward and prove to the Commission that the EVMs have been tampered with. According to Election Commission these machines are tamper proof.

What is also surprising is that the Congress party, which is complaining against these EVMs in the recently concluded state elections of UP and Uttarakhand, has nothing to say about its victory achieved in Punjab Assembly polls, where too, the same EVMs were used. Notably, Congress also emerged as the single largest party in Manipur and Goa, where again, the same EVMs were used for polling.

Two senior leaders of Congress, Captain Amrinder Singh and Veerappa Moily have both categorically said that there is nothing wrong with the EVMs.

Surprisingly, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, who has been shouting the most, had won 67 out of 70 seats in the 2014 Delhi Assembly elections where also the same EVMs were used, so, why he did not complain then?

It simply means that these political parties of India are behaving in a most immature manner just because they have lost the elections. Instead of carrying out their internal assessment on what went wrong, they are blaming EVMs to fool their party workers.

As an alternative to EVMs, they now want the EC to revert back to the Stone Age by switching over to ballot paper. That ballot paper system is so porous that it has large number of avenues for interfering in voting. These EVM machines are fool proof, a fact that has been corroborated en number of times through various High Court rulings and observations.

In 2009 also, these types of complaints were raised and these machines were tested. This mischief by the Opposition parties must be disregarded by the Election Commission. These political parties are projecting a wrong image of the Indian Election Commission at the international forum, where it enjoys great respect.
