FORWARD FOR Washington Capitals Alex Ovechkin, who is a two time MVP, has been suspended for two games, due to a reckless hit in Sunday's game against Chicago. Alex Ovechkin has been also deemed a repeat offender, as he had once before faced a similar suspension.
In Sunday's game against Chicago, forward Alex Ovechkin had knocked the opposing team player Brian Campbell in the very first period, getting a game misconduct and being pulled out. This made it tough for Washington Capitals to pocket the game, with the team winning the game 4-3 during the overtime.
This suspension for Alex Ovechkin means that, apart from staying out of the two games, the forward would also have to fork out his salary per game, instead of number of days missed. The reduction from his salary stands at $232,000. However, the punishment could have been harsher still, had he not accepted a collective bargaining agreement.
Fans will miss seeing the two time MVP Alex Ovechkin in play on Tuesday in Florida and on Thursday at Carolina. The forward will attend the next game on Saturday at Tampa Bay.
