The Shekhar Kapoor film Paani that had been shelved for quite some years now will finally see light of the day, thanks to the YRF banner. However, news is not good for Vivek Oberoi as he has been replaced by Hrithik Roshan for the project.
BUZZ HAS it that Bollywood's very own superhero, Hrithik Roshan has replaced Vivek Oberoi in Shekhar Kapoor's most ambitious project Paani. Apparently the actor has been talking about bagging role at the ongoing Marrakech Film Festival in Morocco. The film Paani was first announced 12 years ago and Shekhar Kapoor of Mr. India fame was not able to find a producer for it.
Now that Aditya Chopra has agreed to finance the movie, Shekhar Kapoor's dream project can finally take off. Things are seemingly falling into place. Earlier the director was often rebuked as to who would want to see a film like Paani. Rumors suggest that the film has a budget of 30 million dollars and will star an Indian actor along with an overseas heroine. Sources close to Roshan say that he has been openly discussing the project with others and is very excited to get the project.
Ranbir Kapoor was also considered for the role but his already full dates diary did not permit him to say yes to the director. When the film was announced with Vivek Oberoi as the lead, it was said that the film is about a time when the world goes to war at the scarcity of water. The story revolves around a man who goes from a poor background to a affluent neighborhood and falls in love with a woman from that part of the world. The women too reciprocates the feeling.
Shekhar Kapoor, who had lost all hopes of making the film is back with much gusto and is talking about making more films like Mr. India after Paani. Replying to a tweet, Kappoor wrote: “yes!@Anshulv After living his dream for yrs Shekhar's #Paani is finally happening.Everyone must learn from him - Never give up on ur dreams!”
