Jerome Randle, has been named the Pac 10 Player of the year today, while Coach of the year award went to Herb Sendek. the Defensive Player of the year honour went to Seth Tarver, while Derrick Williams was chosen as the Freshman of the year.
THE CAL senior point guard Jerome Randle, has been named the Pac 10 Player of the year today, after he led the team to its first ever conference championship in 50 years. Jerome Randle has an average score of 18.7 points, leading the Pac 10 free throw accuracy by 92.7 per cent. The player with average 4.53 assists also tied to his own record of 82 three point baskets.
Jerome Randle is the fifth Cal star who was named Pac 10 Player of the year, after Jason Kidd in 1994, Shareef Abdur Rahim in 1996, Ed Gray in 1997 and Sean Lampley in 2001.
The Coach of the year award went to Herb Sendek of Arizona State, after he had aided the Arizona Sun Devils to their second place at the Conference and 22 victories. Similarly, the Defensive Player of the year honour went to Seth Tarver from Oregon, while Derrick Williams was chosen as the Freshman of the year.
The Cal Bears (21-9, 13-5) start play in the Pac 10 tournament on Thursday at the Staples Center, Los Angeles. The team will play against whichever team wins in Wednesday's game between Washington state and Oregon.
