Paes, Black lose mixed doubles final at US Open

IT WAS an anti-climatic showdown at Flushing Meadows in which India’s Leander Paes and Zimbabwean Cara Black, the defending champions of the US open in the mixed doubles category, lost their title to Americans Travis Parrott and Carly Gullickson 2-6, 4-6 in New York. Talking about the loss, Paes said ,"When we broke them we felt we have a chance of a comeback. But our opponents were too good”.
After winning the coveted Grand Slam, Gulickson gushed, "I can't even believe it. It's my first time on Arthur Ashe. It was a great experience. I'm super excited and happy right now." The winners apart from the getting the much talked about title have also pocketed a cool 150,000 USD for the win. The runners up received 70,000 USD.
