IN ORDER to neutralise the massive threat posed by the Taliban, which once again carried out a massive blast in Islamabad on Monday, the Pakistan government has announced rewards worth five million dollars.
The reward will be given for providing information, which helps in the capture of Taliban warlord Hakimullah Mehsud and his 18 commanders, who are carrying out attacks against the Pakistan government and the army.
The rewards for Taliban leaders were announced both through the newspapers as well as on Pakistan television channels. The announcement of the bounty assumes significance as Taliban has carried out a series of attacks throughout the country, in which more than 2000 people have been killed.
Mehsud became the Taliban chief after US forced managed to kill Baitullah Mehsud in a rocket attack. Although it was thought that his killing will cripple the the radical outfit, but the Taliban has struck back with a vengeance and spread violence across Pakistan.
Even today, a massive blast was carried in Rawalpindi out by a suicide bomber, who is believed to be Taliban activist. At least 20 people are feared dead and scores injured in the explosion, which took place near the Pakistan army headquarter ringing alarm bells once again.
