WITH PRESSURE mounting from all quarters including United Nations and US, Pakistan government on Wednesday (August 5), issued a notification banning somewhere around 25 organisations that include many hardcore religious groups and terrorist organisations.
The list of banned organisations include Jamaat-ud Dawah, Lashkar-e-Toiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, Tehrik-e-Nifaz-e-Shariah Muahammadi, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Al-Akhtar Trust, Al-Rasheed Trust, Tehreek-e-Islami, Islamic Students Movement, Khair-un-Nisa International Trust, Islami Tehreek-e-Pakistan, Lashkar-e-Islam, Balochistan Liberation Army, Jamiat-un-Nisar, Khadam Islam and Millat-e-Islamia Pakistan. Most of these organisations are known across Pakistan and the world for their hardcore religious stand and their involvement in various terrorist activities on Pakistan's soil particularly in cities like Karachi, Sindh and Baluchistan province. Some of them are also involved in fomenting terrorist activities in India, especially in the Kashmir Valley. Among the banned organisations Jamaat-ud Dawah, Lashkar-e-Toiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed have been found involved in various terrorist attacks in India like the 26/11 Mumbai attack, the Parliament attack of 2001 and the Mumbai train blasts.

Addressing the house, the minister for internal security, Rehman Malik said that they were placing Sunni Tehrik, an organisation known for various anti national activities, on the scanner/warn list.
