Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) announced an 18-member squad for the tour of Europe on Tuesday. Muhammd Imran has been appointed as captain of the national team, while Muhammad Imran (Junior), Rizwan (Junior) and Omer Bhutta have been dropped.
CHIEF SELECTOR Muhammad Haneef, along with Ch. Arshad (selector), Khalid Bashir (selector) announced the squad for the Europe tour during a joint press conference at Naseer Banda Hockey Stadium in Islamabad yesterday. “National Team is selected with full consultation of coach and we are hope full for good results in this important tour of Europe. Selected team is capable of showing good results in the tournaments”. M. Haneef said.

Pakistan team will play two four-nation tournaments in Dublin and Amsterdam. The National team will leave for the tour of Europe on June 17. Pakistan will also participate in Champions trophy, which is scheduled to be held later this year. When questioned why Muhammad Imran (Junior), Rizwan (Junior) and Omer Bhutta were not included in the team, Haneef said that players were selected on the basis of their performance during trials and that the national coach had helped in selecting the team for this tour.
The chief selector added that they had full confident in their players and that the players would prove their worth by showing an excellent performance in the upcoming tournaments. “Pakistani Players will learn and their performance will be enhanced in this tour as this will be beneficial for preparations of Champions trophy this year,” he added. Players selected for the tour of Europe are as under:Mohammad Imran (Captain), Shakil Abbasi, Imran Shah, Muhammad Rizwan, Zubair, Imran Junior, Waqas Akbar, Kashif Shah, Sohail Abbas, Abdul Haseeb Khan, Waseem Ahmed, Mohammad Rashid, Farid Ahmed, Mohammad Toseeq, Waqas Sharif, Salman Akbar, Mohammad Irfan and Rehan Butt.
