Pakistan rejects NATO claim that cross border raid wasn't unprovoked
The US has submitted the formal report on the killing of Pakistani troops in an air strike during November last year. The report justifies the US army action as a self-defense strike but Pakistan's army has rejected it.

IN A move that will possibly flare up anti-America views in Pakistan, the US Army has justified its army action that killed two dozen Pak soldiers and injured more than 10 others in a cross-border raid in the tribal area near Afghanistan border.

The US has submitted the formal report on the killing of Pakistani troops in an air strike last year in November. The report justifies the US army action as a self-defense strike but Pakistan's army has rejected it.

According the US report, it has been claimed that when their two posts along the Afghan border were fired at, they acted in self-defense because it was thought to be an attack by Taliban insurgents.

The US claims that a thorough investigation into the incident has been conducted by the military's U.S. Central Command to finalize the report.

According to the U.S. forces, the attack was carried out on some structures constructed with stacked grey stones after their troops were targeted with heavy machine gun and mortar fire. Pakistan's army feels that the coordination mechanism between their and the US forces has become futile.
