All the SAARC countries are expected to participate in the first South Asian Winter Games which comprises of variety of snow games including ski sports. The Pakistani contingent also includes the first Pakistani Winter Olympian Muhammad Abbas.
WITH THE aim of winning medals, the national Ski team of Pakistan departed for Auli and Dehradun in India to participate in the first South Asian Winter Games which is scheduled to be held from January 14 to January 16 .

According to Pakistan Ski Federation, Pakistani players will compete in slalom, giant slalom, cross country and biathlon events in the mega event. The Pakistani contingent also includes the first Pakistani Winter Olympian Muhammad Abbas from Pakistan Air Force. Before appearing in the first South Asian Winter Games, the Pakistani contingent will also take part in the open ski championship which will be taking place from January 7 to January 9. Meanwhile, federation officials are hopeful that this championship will help in the preparation of South Asian winter games and the players would be able to enhance their skills through this event.
As per the federation officials, it tries to ensure the participation of Pakistani players across all the international events and tour of India is also equally important. In a statement, it said that the federation is doing every possible effort to promote the game of skiing in Pakistan but due to shortage of skiing facilities in Pakistan we are facing problems.
